Artist Statement

My work shows abstracted figures, dream like worlds and spaces that feel like another dimension.

Through my paintings, I explore emotional landscapes shaped by themes of mental health, healing, and often dissociation.
My figures appear torn, fragmented, or melted, those are visual metaphors for a soul that feels disconnected or fractured.
This refers to structural dissociation, a psychological response of the humand mind to trauma where the mind splits into distinct parts to survive overwhelming experiences.
My pieces are often but not always inspired by IFS therapy.
That is why sometimes my figures have many hands, heads or are torn. Symbols of different parts of self.

The melting symbolizes a transitionof healing and slowly ´´growing back´´ together.
Even if the souls are torn, the colors and emotions show a sense of peace and acceptance, hope and healing.

Further influances in my work are my Cuban heritage.
It inspires me to use vibrant colors and natural elements as a colorful world was the first thing I saw in this life, while my background in illustration informs my approach to composition and storytelling.
Inspired by years of work as fantasy illustrator, I like to create immersive worlds.
All the different forms of art I did over my life and my personal journey helped me to create my art style.
Which I want to be truly authentic and this way becoming unique.
In my art I am drawn to pushing color and form beyond realism, prioritizing expression and emotions and I thinnk it underlines that my work is metaphorical.
In my art I like to feel free, like I did as a kid while drawing, while it being a combination of all the things I´ve studied learned and explored during my life as an artist.

My work is very personal and evolves alongside me, shaped by my own life.
I believe in resilience and healing and I aim to create paintings that invite viewers to connect with their own journeys, believe in themselves, and feel a sense of motivation and hope while validating the path it takes. My wish is to connect with my art and to share hope and joy for everyone that understands.

And most importantly I truly love art, painting and am thankful to have it in my life and to share it with others. It is my therapy joy and way to stay resilient.

For my art process, start my work by quickly sketching down ideas, when I feel emotional or something in my life inspires me that I later redraw on my canvas. I love to use it to express myself and it is my way of speaking.

My medium of choice is oil on canvas and I do like to use colored pencils that desolve in water and other waterbased mediums such as acrylic as a base.
This way I can plan out my colors and composition, focus on the emotions before using oil paint which I enjoy for its rich colors, textures and blending.

Moving forward, I continue to develop my surreal, fragmented figures and worlds while exploring themes of joy, healing and the complexity of life, embracing both suffering and joy as essential parts of the human experience.
At the moment I am working on my new Collection ´´beyond forms´´ where I am trying to remeber things that bring me joy, to spread joy.
