Artist Statement

While I have been drawing and painting pretty much since I was born I began pursuing fine art in 2025, and by early 2026 it had become the central focus of my practice.
Before I´ve been working mainly as an Illustrator for 7 years.

I primarily work with oil on canvas, often beginning with an acrylic underpainting to establish composition before building depth and texture in oils.
My work exists between figures and abstraction, creating dreamlike, otherworldly spaces that feel like their own world.
Through my paintings, I explore emotional landscapes shaped by themes of mental health, healing, and often dissociation.
Figures appear torn, fragmented, or melted, those are visual metaphors for a soul in transition and the process of inner repair which felt torn before.

My Cuban heritage influences my use of vibrant color and natural elements as a colorful world was the first thing I saw in this life, while my background in illustration informs my approach to composition and storytelling.
Inspired by years of work as fantasy illustrator, I create immersive realms that reflect my inner world and a visual language that is deeply personal to me.
I am drawn to pushing color and form beyond realism, prioritizing expression and emotions. In my art I like to feel free, while it being a combination of all the things I´ve studied learned and explored during my life as an artist.

My work is very personal and evolves alongside me, shaped by my own experiences.
I believe in resilience and healing and I aim to create paintings that invite viewers to connect with their own journeys, believe in themselves, and feel a sense of motivation and hope while validating the path it takes.

Moving forward, I continue to develop my surreal, fragmented figures while exploring themes of joy, beauty, and the complexity of life, embracing both suffering and joy as essential parts of the human experience.
